So.. I am American and have a USA driver's license. I've been living in Ireland for about two years now but I still don't have an Ireland license.

Is it possible to just.. exchange them? Without having to take tests or wait for long periods of time? Is that a thing?

Thanks!

2 mins on google...

you need to take lessons and a test.

Which is what people from UK and Ireland do if they spend more than 12 months in US

Er, OP, you do realise for the last year you've therefore been driving around illegally? :)

You better hurry up and take the test, as if you get caught without a licence (with a c here) and invalid insurance, you will be fined and banned and possibly have the car you're driving confiscated and crushed..... bad luck, you can't get away with it.

We don't actually know that the OP has been driving - merely that they haven't changed their licence.

but let's hope they haven't been driving!
