when are you going to Clare?? Ryanair are starting two flights daily from 07.11 Dublin - Shannon. Gets in to Shannon about 9am...but have to leave Shannon again about 5.30/6pm...best option i'd say. Rent a car when you get down or something....it's too long a drive to do in a day. Shannon to Dublin is 3.5 hours...then to get to west clare you're looking at another 90 minutes.

Clare Heritage & Genealogical Centre is in Corofin Co. Clare. You will most certainly need to hire a car to get here, as the bus service to Corofin is basically shit! It's open all year from 9am-5pm.
They have parish registers from all of Co. Clares parishes, also they have civil records, census returns, and much more stuff. Hopefully they will be able to help you!

Hi,
perhaps this gallery of photo will help you decide what to see when you travel to Co. Clare.

I'd recommend spending more time in Clare than in Dublin - it'll probably be better fun, friendlier and give you a more authentic view of Ireland than the city. You could fly Dublin to Shannon, but you really need a car to get around. The best sights of Clare IMO are - the Burren (make sure to visit the perfumery), the Cliffs of Moher (although very touristy - if you spend more time, you could go and visit the Aran Islands from Doolin and get a view of the cliffs from the sea - stunning!), Loop Head dolphins, you could visit the genealogical centre (I think it's in Kilfenora), Ennis town would be perfect to stay in - and there's lovely villages such as Quin, Corofin and Ballyvaughan.
