On previous trips, I'd stayed in dormitories or B&Bs or with relatives, but this time I'll be in a hotel, and the cost for breakfast seemed pretty steep (I think about 15 euros), so I thought I'd go out--- but, when I thought about it, I couldn't remember ever having seen cafes that served breakfast, with the exception of Bewely's on Grafton Street. Do they exist, or had I just not noticed them because, on earlier trips, I'd already had breakfast?

The Kingfisher cafe (Parnell Street) does a nice breakfast.

Try the Queen of Tarts on Cow's Lane or Cork Hill just off Dame Street up near Dublin Castle.

Or closer to Grafton Street, walk up Wicklow Street onto South William Street for Lemon café. There are also various eateries on the way to Lemon if you take that route.

There are some cafés in the Powerscourt Centre right on the top floor although I'm not sure what time they open. I'm sure most places would be open around 8 or 9am.

I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

There are cafes around town doing breakfast but they tend to be a bit hidden away, and there are certainly less of them than there used to be. But if you keep your eyes open you will certainly find one.

I would go to have breakfast now and again at one hotel on O'Connell St.
At the time it was pricey but really great value...more like a brunch, relaxing and stylish...

Also, the Buttery at Trinity College..keep left from main gate and past the chapel.. is excellent and good value!

Lovin'spoon just above Parnell sq on North Frederick st is my favourite breakfast in Dublin.
It's a nice little cafe/breakfast place that does a very tasty, very generous sized breakfast for less than a fiver. I highly recommend it.
