We will be arriving in Dublin on Friday 27 June 2014 at around 14:30, pick up our rented car and leave for Newtownmountkennedy for the night. Should we take the route to NMKennedy thtough Sally Gap? The next day we plan to leave early for a sightseeing trip to Bandon in County Cork. Powerscourt, Glendalough and Cahir Castle are must sees for us. I have done a lot of research and it seems like there are a few options for driving to County Cork. 1. From Glendalough via Portlaoise to Bandon. 2. From Glendalough Avaco and Carrik-On-Suir to Bandon. 3. Kilkenny route, but we have been in Kilkenny in 2011. We do not mind to be on the road for the day and see as much as possible.
Any advice is welcome.

After looking at the things you want to see in Wicklow I'd drive across to the M8 and head south to Cork from there. It's easily the quickest road. If you're visiting Glendalough at the weekend and/or on a sunny day, arrive early or there will be no parking!

Yea my best friend is from Bandon, and no doubt, hope on the M8 and then go round Cork through the jack Lynch road as if you're going to Kerry. Keep on that road for about 15-20 mins until you see a big sign for Bandon and a left hand turn. it's only about 30 mins from Cork or less if your a fast driver and its pretty well sign posted.

Ooh I love Cahir Castle too, great choice!

Thank you very much! This is exactly what we will do as Wicklow will take most of our time. Appreciate your reply.
