Hiya folks

I'm going to be in Belfast on Friday 23rd October with work collegues aged 35- 55years. Can anyone recommend any bars (that open as late as possble!) that play traditional session music please? If not what are the liscensing rules or where can we get a late drink? Any help is appreciated.

I recommend Kelly's cellars, they do traditional music, and is one of the oldest licensed premises in Ireland. Henry Joy Mc Craken and co planned the 1798 rebellion here, plus every one of the bar staff can speak Irish. http://www.belfastbar.co.uk/kellys-cellars-review.htm

The Rotterdam Bar has traditional music, but is a little out of the centre in the docks area http://www.belfastbar.co.uk/rotterdam-bar-review.htm

Thaks very much for your recommendations. Do you know what times the bars actually close at? Our flights come in about 9pm so we're really limited for time!

Normal closing time is 23:30, but some stay open to 01:30 (last drinks served at 23:00 and 01:00 respectively).

In the city centre most places stay open until 01:30 (the Crown closes around midnight)

nightclub type places stay open until about 03:00

a few places like Thomsons garage, Mynt and the Union stay open until even later(McCrackens is open very late depending on the time of month) And of course residents bars in big hotels are open 24/7

For traditional music try Kelly's Cellars or Fibber Magees or possibly Maddens

You won't get 'lock-ins' in the city centre

Happy drinking!
