I'm in the process of getting my post graduate visa for ireland; no problems there. I'm not leaving until the end of Aug. so I understand it is kind of early to be looking for housing. I suppose I am just worried about moving my stuff from hostle to hostle and whatnot. I am just hoping someone can give me some names of some apartment/flat complexes? Fairly close to the city center or Salthill; I'm recently out of school so I don't mind if it is student type housing. I'm kind of going in to this blindly. I've been to Dublin and Cork but never Galway so any help is much appreciated!

Cheers

Try here:

http://www.advertiser.ie/galway/classifieds

Newcastle is the main student accommodation area - walking distance to NUIG. Galway's a fab, friendly place to live - hope you love it.

Hi, Galway is a fantastic city. I lived there for a few years. Accommodation search in Galway can be quite competitive at that time of year because of the influx of students after the high school finishing exam results in mid August. Get the Galway advertiser newspaper, find the website to find out what day it comes out on and go to the office on Eyre square in the city centre early the day before to get the advance accommodation list. There will be a queue for the accommodation list but you will get something. When i was there a 2 years ago this was a well known yearly occurance in galway. Things may be different now with the recession but i doubt it. Also www.daft.ie will be of good help. good luck.

Hi, Galway is a wonderful City and I am sure you will enjoy it greatly
This is probably the best website on Galway City and County

It also includes all of the hostels in the city, plus cheap bed and breakfast accommodation.
You must visit the Aran Islands while you are in the area. They are just 30 minutes by boat.
Connemara to the west of the city is also very popular with tourists.
Enjoy your stay in Galway.
