Okay guys! Time to get your input. I'll be visiting my mum in England in August and am convincing her to do a 6 day trip in the South west. We would fly into Cork and out of Shannon. I'm looking for your opinions on what I need to see, what I can pass on, and where I should stay. Also, since the Rock of Cashel is a bit out of the way.. is it worth it? We'll be renting a car and are on a major budget!

The South West area of UK is a really Beautiful area & you will really love it. I spent 2 Mths in UK & Banbury in Oxfordshire was where I called my home was. I have very close friends here who Lent me their Bangalow. I travelled all over UK by car & had such a great holiday. I Met some really lovely people in my travels & saw alot of countryside & loved all The Villages too. My Favorite one is Stow on Wold. Do go & visit it. Many years ago it was where The farmers brought their stock to Market to be sold here. Lots of Lovely Shops here.
Do hope you have a really lovely Time & when you come home Do let us know how you got on. I would love to go back to UK.

????

Cork and Shannon are in Ireland, not England. This is a completely different country. Where does your mother live exactly? Do you mean you're doing a tour of SW Ireland (you've listed places in SW Ireland)...

While in Cork, go to Cobh (say cove) and visit the
the towns Heritage Centre.

hey,
south of ireland is definately a nice route to do,
Recommended is the Ring of Kerry, you can start in Kenmare when coming from cork and finish up in Killarney where you should visit
torc waterfall, ladies view, adhagdoe heights. If you are there around the 10,11,12 august there is a traditional festival in Killorglin called puckfair www.puckfair.ie Which is definately worth visiting for a night
After the ring of Kerry you should spend at least 2 days driving around the dingle penisula and take the connor pass into Tralee. Make it up to Shannon in time to go a little past shannon and see the Cliffs of Moher, which are definately worth a visit.
The cheapest accomodation is camping.. If you buy a cheap tent when you land in Argos or something. There are plenty of camp sites along the way and if you really want to do it budget just ask the local farmers if you can camp on their land.
Have a great trip

see........SHANNONFERRIES.COM /
very good advice from # 4 after visiting Tralee
take the N69 through Listowel onwards to
Tarbet for the ferry and drive up the Clare coast
to Doolin stopping at Gus O'Connors public house.
enjoy your trip.

I don't think it's really too much out of your way on a 5/6 day trip...personally, I'd advise you getting to see it...in particular, the view from the north as you approach on the old road is a bit of a classic...

Hi guys,

sorry for a delay on the update. My mum lives in England but we were hoping to go to Ireland for a visit. Unfortunately we didn't make it as we had some family things that sadly took up our time instead. But I really appreciate all your input and hope I can do the trip in the future!
