Hi, any recommendations on reasonably priced accommodation in Temple Bar area, Dublin?
My parents are travelling from England to Dublin and would like to stay in Temple Bar surrounding area from 30 Dec - 3 Jan. They said Temple Bar Inn was a bit pricey and looking out for any other suggestions...

Yikes. I wouldn't put the majority of parents in Temple Bar. It is a party central cesspit of vomit, piss and drunks between the ages of 18 and 35. And at the time of the year it'll be worse.
Avalon House is maybe a 10 minute walk from Temple Bar and on Amoma.com is charging EUR52 a night. A bargain but it may not be on offer at the price for long. You can check out Bewley's at Ballsbridge on the same site at EUR65 a night. It is a distance from Temple Bar but again, IMO a better option even if it is a tenner or so for a cab from Temple Bar to there. However, if you insist on Temple Bar then Oliver St John Gogarty's at EUR70 a night with ensuite is a good deal, believe it or not.

My parents are a young 48 & 50 - not party animals - but suppose enjoy a night of wine & cocktails, pub grub, midnight port and dancing etc..
Another option on the fringe of Temple Bar is the Harding Hotel. I've not been in it for a few years, but its had a reputation for a while as a simple good value place. Just note that its a few hundred metres from Christchurch where there are likely to be street celebrations on New Years eve, so its definitely not a spot for people who like early nights. But it is outside the main party and puke drag of Temple Bar. If your parents want to save money, but want to be within reasonable walking distance of Temple Bar, then the small hotels around Gardiner Street and Frederick Street North on the north side are significantly cheaper than south of the river. The areas can be a bit seedy at night though, but it sounds like your parents are well able to cope with that. Mind you, when you wrote 'midnight port and dancing', I was speed reading that as 'midnight pole dancing', I was about to say thats quite hard to find in Dublin....
A hotel on the other side of the river can provide easy access to Temple Bar's attractions (not all of them hellish) while giving more assurance of a quiet night's sleep.
I used to book clients into the Parliament Hotel, on the western end of TB...at the time it was a very good budget option and just far enough away from the fractious centre of the area...the Harding mentioned above would also be a good location if it suited your budget...another hotel that used to be well-priced is the Central, not too far away on Exchequer St...
