Hi,

I want to start some walking at the end of this month on the cotswolds way

to give me more freedom i distance , walkingday ( or resting day ) and to be able to walk in line ( no loops )
i would use my car and bike combination.

park car at start, bike to end, walk back and pick up bike. Is this a possible in the cotswolds?
can i leave my bike locked safe in the villages?

I plan to come to the UK very soon and although I will be traveling around Europe, England will be my base. My question is: How would I got about renting a flat (clean, private, not too far from London) in the UK for 6 months? Are there pitfalls to this approach?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated

Joe

G'day all,

I have a few days in London either side of a Mark Knopfler concert at the end of May. I would like to take a day-trip to Newcastle to hire a car and take a look around.

Is anyone familiar with the reliability of the train services up that way? They say the journey is around 3 1/4 hours or so, but I have also heard of some great delays on the British rail network?

Thanks for any advice.

Cheers
Rob

Hello everyone!
I have the potential for a new job, which would require staying in London for one weeknight every week. The job is for a charity, so they would only consider this if it were as cheap as possible. So, I am wandering where to start looking for a private room in the range of £20-£40 per night for a regular booking?
Does anyone know if hotels/hostels offer such deals, or are they generally inundated. Has anyone ever come across a website where people advertise such things?

Thanks…

My daughter and I are planning our first trip together and her first trip abroad. She's 8. We're from the U.S.

We'll do some typical tourist things but if anyone knows of any unique, kid-friendly things to do, that would be great. Or, generally, I'd love to find some "off-the-beaten-path" destinations that aren't typical tourist traps. Even though we'll be staying in London, we might be up for a day trip somewhere. :)

Also, still nailing down accommodations. What's the best site to use for…

So I am going to Europe and have the first two weeks of June still to fill in!

I am looking at cruises and tours... anything that is pre-organised so I cant get lost!
Airport hopping like a mad man doesn't appeal to me too much either.

I am not interested in Contiki, sadly all the tours they offer that appeal to me are either booked out or the dates are not suited to my existing itinerary.

So does anyone know of or experienced some exciting things to do that will hopefully attract more people…

What areas close to the city would you recommend. A family member is considering moving there, his company is recruiting and it would be for at least two years. A reallocation allowance is provided, but they don't help with properties. His place of work is near Ropemaker Street, London. If he makes the move, his girlfriend will also go with him. She is a nurse. One of the big issues is the high Australian dollar compared to the English pound and it looks like they would effectively be getting…

Howdy all,

I know you need more time to experience a country and all that jazz, but I really can't handle Heathrow for 5 hours. So the plan is to take the airport express, head into town and have lunch before going back out.

Suggestions? I obviously value quick access and service...

Thanks to all who took time to consider my post.

Hi Guys

We are a couple of Aussies planning to undertake the Coast To Coast walk in northern England late August/early September.

Can anyone advise us on the best way to undertake this?

We do not want a group tour but wonder how to transport bags etc between stopping places. We would prefer to walk with only a light day pack and have a heavier bag transported between B&Bs. Also booking overnight accommodation and any recommendations on that front.

If you have any tips at all please let us…
