Hi,

i have been reading through the forum regarding cornwall trip suggestions and i am still a bit lost for my logistics bit :/. My sister and I will drive around cornwall for 6 days in late July (i know not starting early with the planning :P) and i want to make a rather active holiday with hiking, cycling and potentially surfing or so...

For the moment the places i thought about are:
- Dartmoor
- St Ives
- Jurassic coast
- Bude
- Lizard peninsula
- the tintagel castle

I was wondering, coming…

We are training from London to Liverpool return in September (over 3 days) by Virgin trains.

They offer a 2 for the price of 1 admission to many sights such as the Tower of London upon production of a valid train ticket.

However, the conditions state that you have to take up that offer on the actual date of the train journey: you can imagine how tight the time would be if you leave Liverpool at midday and wish to spend a lot of time at the London sights.

So, I was wondering how strict the…

I will need to get from Doncaster-Sheffield Robin Hood airport to York using public transport on a Sunday. From what I can see it involves catching a 91A bus to Doncaster (hourly on Sundays, not sure how much) and then a train from Doncaster to York. As I can't be sure of catching the first bus after my flight arrives, it's probably best to get a ticket for the train at the station (£13.25 for the 22 minute journey). There are two of us travelling, so I guess around £35 in total. Any cheaper…

Forecast for next week looks great so I booked Thurs/Fri off work. I'd like to get the megabus (or similarly priced public transport) to a beach, stay overnight in a hostel or surf lodge, surf lesson, take some photos, maybe do a bit of walking, come back to London on Saturday. It has to be as cheap as possible. I guess Newquay is probably the cheapest and most obvious bet but where else is easy to get to on public transport that might be a bit more chilled out and less full of stags, hens and…

I'm hiring a car from York and planning on seeing some countryside in Lancashire and Yorkshire. We have 4 whole days. From York, maybe head to Ripon, then towards Wensleydale and maybe Richmond. Then across the moors and to the Forest of Bowland. I'm looking for open countryside (I live in Hong Kong and want something different), short walks, castles, small towns and villages. Any recommendations on places to see, a route to take, or places to stay (B&Bs up to around £60 for two, or hostels…

Hi there

I'm planning on going on student exchange to either a Netherlands or England university in Jan-July 2014. One of the biggest reasons for this is to explore Europe. My first preference at the moment is Maastricht in the Netherlands because I think travel to the rest of Europe will be much easier and cheaper with it being closer than UK (please correct me if I'm wrong!)

I need to pick some preferences for England universities: out of Exeter, Southampton, East Anglia in Norwich…

I'm needing to fill out applications online, and was wondering if anyone knows of any nice cafes (other than Starbucks etc) that provide Wi-Fi to customers? Thanks!

Could anyone please tell me the cheapest way to get from Heathrow Airport to Oxford? I've heard of the airline bus but Im not convinced this is the cheapest option for me as a student. Any advice would be much appreciated.

This is a follow-up to earlier posts (thanks especially to "the man in seat 61").

I am ready to book my train tickets for late September 2013 but cannot get a Paris-Liverpool booking on the Eurostar website which rejects my Paris-Liverpool request with the message:-

"Your departure date is outside of our booking horizon. For full details on how far in advance you can book, please visit our FAQ section on available seats".

This is nonsense as it does allow me to book a Paris-London trip on…
