We are travelling by car to London (since three airplane tickets are more expensive than fuel + ferry and we also want to visit places like Kew and the Harry Potter Studio Tour). Can anybody recommend a decent and affordable hotel in the suburbs of London where we can park our car for free and have an easy train/subway ride to downtown London?

My wife is a UK citizen. I am from the USA. I want to be able to stay beyond the 3 month visa that is issued. If you can answer any of these questions it is very appreciated.
Can the spousal visa be done online & about how long is the process?
Will I have the same privileges as my wife with this spousal visa?
When flying back to Europe can I enter from another country other than the UK with this visa and not be subject to the 3 month visa limit.
When departing Europe can I depart from another…

We are an American couple in our 30s braving our first trip overseas with a 3-year-old. We've done a handful of long-haul trips like this pre-kid, but never to London. We will be there 11 days in late May/early June and hope to rent an apartment off homeaway.com that is close to a park (possibly Hyde Park, but we are open to neighborhood suggestions, as we're new to the city). We know we want to do a day trip to Oxford, a coach day trip to Stonehenge (unless that's crazy with a 3 y.o., let me…

I am American with a South Korean driver's license (non-roman characters) and I will be visiting Iceland later this month. Is there a way I could get an international driver's permit? I am currently living in London.

I am working on a trip to England in August with plans to be in the Lake District Aug 23-26 before heading to a friends birthday celebration. I have been looking for a wild camping guide but the two or three I have stumbled upon are booked. Anyone have any recommendations of guide/operators for a one or two night wild camping experience in the Lake District? It would be me and possibly one other person. My dates aren't flexible unfortunately. Hoping someone here can help!

So I have a bit of a loaded question that I desperately need help answering.

I am an American masters student here in the UK and I've recently had my bag stolen with many of my belongings inside - including my US license AND my passport - very tragic.

Anyway, as nothing has been returned to me yet, I have an appointment at the embassy here in London to get a new emergency passport asap (I think they will give this to me same day and I have no idea who long this will be valid for - I'm assuming…

Hi Everybody,

I posted this thread in the Japan branch, but I figured I would ask here, too, because Ian Wright is British.

Does anybody remember the name/location of the place Ian Wright spends the night in Tokyo during the episode of Globe Trekker?

Thank you so much, I deeply appreciate your answer. :-)

Hello,

Starting March 11th I will be journeying around the UK to visit friends and family. I am trying to figure out a way to travel around the cheapest and easiest. I am a UK citizen but currently living abroad in Canada, so I have lost touch with what way would be the best way to travel. I was told taking the train is best and I have read about this Britrail pass, but someone told me it is around 550-600 pounds which is a ridiculous amount of money.

here is my current Itinerary:
(March)
London…
