Hi There,

I am currently in the UK on a UK tourist visa. I am from New Zealand and I have the following questions

  1. How long can I stay in the country? I know it sounds silly but I cannot see the stamp in book, I searched online that its up to 6 months but I need to confirm that

  2. I wish to get a tier 5 youth working Visa. Are there any restrictions on how long I need to be out of the UK before I can come back in. I am aware that I do have to go home to get my Visa, which is a pain but I don't want to go home and not be allowed back in. Also are there other ways to do this, like going to Ireland?

Thanks guy's I have tried to research but am struggling to find the answers I need

1) UP to 6 months depending on what was put in your passport

2) No minimum time and you have to apply in a country you are either a citizen of or legally resident in. What may be a problem is spending 6 months in the UK then immediately applying for a visa as that would lead the authorities to think you have a reason for returning so quickly. Also will you have enough money to be able to return to the UK?

You are supposed to apply from somwhere you have permission to stay more than 6 months, though I know of someone who recently did it Ireland while there on a tourist visa.

There is no problem applying for a Tier 5 immediately after a tourist visa.

I think you need to contact the British Embassy for the accurate information about your stay in UK.
