Hi all,

I have a plane ticket into London to start a holiday in the UK and Europe. I'm not clear if I will need to present proof of intention return to my home country - I'd rather not as that seems too far aheah to plan.

Does anyone know, in general, if a train ticket into Europe, for example Paris or Copenhagen, will be sufficient to gain entry?

Thanks a lot.

You might not be asked anything at all, it is however a good idea to have a clue on what you are going to do, have some proof of why you would want to return to "not specified" (hint nationality helps in answering questions) as well as evidence of how you are going to survive whilst on holiday - generally a ticket exiting the country isn't needed but in most cases it's to your advantage to book something ahead of time as last minute bookings will seriously harm your bank balance.

You probably would have found that a return ticket would not cost much more than your one way ticket even if you picked a return option that allowed changes for nominal cost. But you should have checked that before booking

Thanks alan! I'm from Australia if that helps.

Return ticket not really an option as I'm taking a round the world route, but will keep it in mind for future.

Ok, well round-the-world is still 'away from Europe', which is what they want to see you will do.
So, you have a 'round the world' ticket? That should be fine, so long as you can show a flight out of Europe.
