Really sad to wake up to news this morning that the Cutty sark was on fire.

Even sadder that the police are treating it as suspicious as believe it may have been started by a group of people who were caught in the area at the time on CCTV.

Really upset me as I live very close to it and have a lot of memories of the beautiful big old boat. Glad though that it may not be as damaged as was initially thought and 50% it the boat had already been taken away for restoration, so may be abl to salvage it.

What scum to torch such a historical landmark.

Yeah, I suppose worse things have happened at sea.

Lets hope whoever is responsible gets a good clipper round the ear.

Seriously though, I'm absolutely gutted about this, it was such a beautiful ship! I was out in Greenwich last night, I wish I'd taken one last look at the Cutty Sark as I went past it.

Why is the Cutty Sark pub nowhere near the cutty sark?

She is a beautiful ship and it's sad. The Royal Navy have a variety of punishments that they might try on the arsonists (if there are any) it could be a sort of historical enactment. They could sell tickets and the money go to the restoration.

#4 I don't know what they put in the stuff but after a while you can see the ship sail round the bottle.

If it was arson it's sickening that someone would do that...

I remember visiting the Cutty Sark as a kid on my first trip to London. I hope she can be restored to her former beauty.

as for the rumours about arsonists, I wonder why keelhauling ever went out of fashion...
