Hello,

I was the OP on a thread about a week ago regarding the one bag restriction at LHR. Our bags (1 each) are definitely within the size limits specified on the BAA Heathrow site. If I bring a light jacket, does that have to also be packed in the carry-on baggage? I know that it would have to go through the screening process but I would prefer to wear it and have a few small items i.e. wallet, book, snacks, and my camera in the pockets. Will this cause a problem?

All input is welcome, especially from those that have recently gone via LHR.

Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge it shouldn't be a problem.

I do this quite often and it's not a problem, but I'm not sure about the snacks. You can buy snacks after you've passed security. The jacket will be screened, also you have to take off the belt if you're wearing one. I even had to take off my blouse, luckily I was wearing a T-Shirt underneath.

Shouoldn't be a problem at all. You can put as much as you want in your pockets, and as long as you don't have any liquids/gels as your snacks these should't be a problem.

Even teh liquid thing is really stupid, I recently found a travel bottle of shower gel in my laptop bag that has gone through Heathroxw security abotu 10 times with them not seeing it. I've left it there now just to see if they ever notice it. Depending on which terminal and what time you're leaving remembe rto allow yourself plenty of time for the security checks. Whether you have to take off your belf/shoes/all your clothes, depends on the way the security people are feeling. I've been no teh same flight on é consecutive weeks and had the virtual full body strip one week, and the just take your laptop out the next.

You will not be permitted to wear your jacket through the metal detector if that's what you mean. If you're going through security screening, you'll have to remove it. But you wont have to put it inside your bag, you can lay it on the conveyor belt or they will give you a large, open plastic tray to place it in. You may also leave your wallet and other possessions in the jacket while it goes through the x-ray.

Of course you can wear it on the plane also!

If you do put things in your jacket ensure the pockets seal up, otherwise you could lose something

Be careful with the snacks, a packet of crisps could count as a separate carry-on bag.
