OK, here is the question, (also posted on the OZ branch)

My friend, who lives in Australia, wants to catch up with her English boyfriend next Easter (2008). He is now living back in England.

So, they will both have about a week to travel and spend quality time together...but where is 'the location' to meet? Where would it be equitable for them to meet (travel time, cost of flight etc)?

I suggested Thailand, anyone else got any ideas? Please add-why you picked that location!

thanks
Bree

Thailand sounds good.
Hong Kong is also fantastic. Oasis airlines have cheap flights from Lon- HK, and Syd - HK isn;t that expensive as well.
They can also catch a bus in Macau or train in China.

Bangkok, KL and Singapore are quite established stopover destinations between the two countries and are obviously great places but....how about somewhere different?

Seoul on Korean, Tokyo on JAL, HK on Virgin, Dubai on Emirates (probably established now), Shanghai on China Eastern or via the US?

Depends on where they've been, where they want to go, what they are interested in and costs I suppose.
I have been to Bangkok, KL, Singapore, Tokyo, HK and Shanghai so would choose Seoul or Dubai.

There's always the other direction. L.A., San Fransisco, Vancouver. If it was me, I'd go for either of the latter two.

Dubai on Emirates is v established now, also Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways. Both places would be pretty hot by Easter though so they would have to be sun-lovers. Both a lot closer for him than her too!

If cost is a factor stick with SE Asia.
If they want something different try Mongolia.

Kenya would be a good destination and is between both locations. There are plenty of flights to Mombasa, on the coast. The beaches are magnificent and ideal for a romantic reunion.

p.s. have a friend who just had the same dilemma. Her: back in Oz after 4 years in London. Him: an ex-pat still in London for work for quite a while longer.
they chose Thailand for 10 days and were not disappointed.......
