Hi all,

my girlfriend and I are going to be in London for 4-5 days in September and I am wondering if any of you could suggest to me what one of the most preferable neighbourhoods to stay in would be? I am also unsure as to whether it is most beneficial to book now, or closer to September. I have a lot of time to do research before booking and would like to try and stay under $200 USD a night.

We are in our late 20's, so a neighbourhood with some evening activities would be preferable, although we do not need a party environment.

I love London but have not been there for over a decade and my girlfriend has never been. I hope to stay in a neighbourhood that she will be impressed with but will not break the budget!

USD200 a night is a good budget. I normally target the chain hotels because it provides you with a good idea of what you are going to get. Travelodge Covent Garden might be a good option and I stayed at the St Giles near Oxford St which is just outside Soho central and it was a good lower budget option but you will likely be under your budget and 3 star.You could try Thistle in Oxford St but they may top out your budget.

USD200 par night is definitely a very good budget. London can offer you and your girlfriend plenty of options for that price.
I usually make my reservations checking the main online booking sites where I can also view guests' comments straightaway.
Being a great fan of the Beatles, once I stayed in the President Hotel where they spent some time in 1963. (found a very convenient price on HotelsClick.com)
But perhaps you are too young to be interested in this nostalgic stuff.
Again, booking sites are the best option for me. Good luck.
