We're going to be four 26 year olds traveling to London for a few nights (from the US). Looking for a cool hostel atmosphere, fun bar to pregame before going out and a good location. Definitely no under 18 year olds and preferably a 25 -30 crowd. Would be great if breakfast and other amenities were included (linens, wifi, etc.).

Any suggestions of places to stay?

The YHA St Pancras looks nice from the outside and is convenient for public transport. You would have to do shared accommodation. I think I looked up a shared bed for someone else there and it was £26/night, but I wouldn't swear to that.

St Christophers, Generator both regularly get mentioned although my parents live too close to London for me to have ever bothered using them.

http://www.hostelworld.com allows you to search for a hostel by facility type (as well as the other facilities you mention), thereby making sure you are guaranteed what you require.

I'd consider sticking to somewhere within zone 1 to centralise yourself to minimise daily travel (which is basically anywhere on or within the circle line). Fire up google maps, zoom into london and turn on public transport on the options - the circle line is coloured yellow.

If you don't know what pregame means, are you too old to answer the question?!

Generator hostel is nice and central and has it's own bar.
Google it to find more information.

#3 Usually it means a couple of warm up beers before heading to the stadium/ground/park/arena to watch the football/basketball/baseball/hockey. It's an Americanism, you're not too old, you're just not that American :)

In this case I think it means a warm up before they head on out into town.

Lads, want some decent recommendations for some beers in London? Any particular type of establishment you'd like? I'd suggest some but it only recently came up - do a search for pubs, london on this site.
