I will be in London with my family in August. We'd like to take a London Eye "flight". Is it worth paying the extra money for the fast track tickets (almost 10 pounds extra per ticket)? How long is the wait for a regular ticket? Does it also depend on the time of day? We have two small children (1 and 4) and prefer not to stand in line for a long time.
Thanks,
Amal

I have no idea what the lines are like in august - we were there in December and the wait was about 1/2 an hour. Didn't seem that long as the line kept moving, very little standing still especially for long periods.

any time we've went by it hasnt looked like there's been a wait but we've never been on it so there might be some secret way to queue? who knows? but we were there in july and at 12pm and it was empty. i think it might just be your luck and depending what day/time you go. other than that, i dont know, sorry.

1) buy the tickets in advance over the internet - you get a discount on a normal ticket BUT check what the weather is going to be like before booking
2) buy a Discovery flight - you get a guide, it's cheaper than fasttrack BUT you have to go at a specific time
3) buy early or late in the day when the day tourists aren't around

Hi AKS,
I went on the london eye 2 years ago in August aswell and me and my family had to wait 1 hour 30 mins b4 we got on. so it could be a could idea to get fast track tickets if you dont want to wait about, but you also have to consider is it worth the money. Hope this has helped.

I have been on it about 5 times at different times of year (not a mad obsessed fan just been lots with work and family coming to visit London!) and have never waited more than 30 mins and mostly its been about a 10 minute wait.
