First the good news: I was accepted for my masters studies at LSE. Horray!
The hard part: Ive never been to london and I suddenly need to move there....
would realy apreciate help with a few notes:
1. Has anyone lived at the University of London dormitories, or the ones at LSE? I dont have the oportunity to visit before hand, are they likely to be as grubby as the ones I've encountered in other countries?
2. How is student life in london, really? For some reason I'm having trouble finding statistics of the ages of most London students. I know I'll be on the young end (I'll be barely 20 when I start the MSc program), but Im just curious...
3. For Jews and Israelis - nearly everyone Im asking who has studied in London has mentioned blatant antisemitism on campus. Not just criticism of Israeli policies (which I understand and encourage) or innocent ignorance, but blatant threats and intimidation. Any thoughts, comments or experiences? I was born in the US but have been living in Israel for several years, and will be completeing my undergrad here.
Thanks in advance!

You could put a Canadian flag on your daypack.

Hey,
London is an amazing place to be student. I was at the LSE last year doing a one year postgrad programme. Fabulous.
I didn't live in a dorm (my wife and I rented a flat in Hackney, but that is another story...) so I can't say what the standard is like, but most people said the dorms were fine - but that the food at some was not the greatest. Some halls (I think the one in covent garden) have cooking facilites, or you can eat cheaply (reasonably) at the LSE cafeteria. Be sure to try other places like the University of London student union building for food and drink. Plus of course there are places like brick lane, hackney and others which have really cheap food - catering mostly to immigrants/"ethnic" communites.
As far as antisemitism, people at universities in London on the whole tend to be somewhat political people - so you may have some issues if you are a staunch defender of Israeli policies. However, be assured that I noted far more anti-American sentiment than anti-Jewish sentiment. If that makes you feel better...
Have a great time. PM me if you want more info

I'm going to be looking for a student to rent a room in my house for a year.
Read my Profile and PM me if you're interested.
[PS - I've just returned from a six-month trip to India, Pakistan, Iran, Yurkey and New Zealand. Am now at home for a year to do up my house before I go away again long term. But there won't be much noise or disruption involved, I hope; and none at all in the room I have to let for a self-catering student.]

OP you may find that people are Anti Zionist rather than Anti Semitic as there is a difference.

I know very little about the uni side but do go past an LSE halls of residence by Sadlers Wells. No idea if that is for undergrads, postgrads or international students but it looks ok. (better than my halls when I went to uni in Bradford)
For location, it is fantastic. Walking distance to Angel for shopping, nightlife etc. Bus ride to Holborn/Aldwych for Uni.
Antisemitism? maybe in uni but I don't think it is in general...although I do verbally abuse my Jewish best friend on a regular basis....but its all fun and games

Until you find out they've been secretly recording you for years and have Mossad/CIA come and do an extraordinary rendition job on you out while you're fast asleep and you wake up with a sore ass in an Israeli jail.
