I'm an 18 year old Canadian male, and as a trip before I head off to University I want to have a 3/4 week stay in England. I also would love to attend the Festival, so I need to gather some information!
Is there hostels in any cities closest to the Festival? Such as Bristol or Bath?
Are there buses that can take me to the Festival from those cities?
Approximately how much am I looking at spending excluding the plane ticket?
And any tips/advice you have to share would be great!
There are hostels in Bristol and almoust certainly in Bath, but I think most people camp at the festival grounds when they go to Glastonbury. I've never heard of people staying near by and getting a bus, I don't think it is accessible by public transport.
The festival normally costs a few hundred pounds, it is quite expensive.
You are 18, you camp. Most people use ultra-cheap throw-away tents. Even my Rich Middle-Aged Friend camped when he went to Glastonbury, and in all other circumstances he wouldn't be seen dead camping. There is no practical alternative.
The available indoor accommodation in the vicinity is only sufficient in quantity to accommodate the stars, key technicians, and passing billionaires. Prices are temporarily are increased to match. Most people don't go on and off site during the festival: Glastonbury itself becomes a ghost-town for the duration.
If you don't manage to secure a ticket (they sell out VERY quickly) checout www.gumtree.com nearer the time and there'll be a few selling tickets there, not all of whom will be in it for a profit.
It is indeed one of the best festivals on earth, even in mud.

Don't book the flights over to the UK until you've secured the Glastonbury tickets. The 2013 festival managed to sell all 135,000 tickets in 1 hour and 40 minutes. From memory different ticket purchasing options exist for overseas people like you, but all the information you need is on the Glastonbury site.
