
Other Traditional pubs in addition the excellent Red Lion (Whitehall) and the Cheshire Cheese are Ye Olde Mitre Tavern and the Jersalem Tavern near Farringdon, The Warwick Castle just off the Edgware Road (you'll never see anything like this outside of London), The Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden is also a great pub. and if you're down by London Bridge the Market Porter, at the back of Borough Market

Seeing as you're a Harry Potter fan I just wanted to add that I was in Edinburgh at the weekend and passed by the elephant house (where JK Rowling apparently started writing the books).
