Hi -- We're moving to London from Paris later this year and we're trying to figure out how our dog will make the trip. He's not allowed on the eurostar and foot passengers on the Calais-Dover ferry cant bring dogs that aren't service dogs. All tips welcome. Our latest idea is just hiring a driver to make the crossing by car. Thanks

Here's your options

Hiring a driver is probably your easiest option
I am going to be the party crasher :(
You need to read this OP.

The UK is very funny about importing pets. Sorry. The hoops to jump through are considerable.

Fwoggie: they are coming from Paris so hopefully their dog already has a pet passport for EU. Still has to be wormed just before coming, microchipped and have rabies immunisation even though they don't make you wait 6 months any more.

A friend of mine, who has brought her dog through Calais-Dover, suspects a bit of a racket by inspectors/vets in Calais. She satisfied the rules to the letter, but it wasn't good enough for the them who refused to let her through unless she paid fancy prices to have stuff redone in Calais, with 2 hours before the ferry.
I'd check the airline possibilities that Fwoggie refers you to. So no Easyjet or Ryanair, but maybe there's a feasible possibility.
If you want someone to drive the dog over, google dog courier uk france - there are many options.

Have you tried the options in respect of LD Lines and Stena suggested in the very reliable Man in seat61 website? - http://www.seat61.com/dogs-by-train.htm
Admittedly one is via Hoek of Holland.
