Hi,
I'm planning on traveling to London In April of 2016 from Adelaide, Australia. I have started looking for flights and so far have only been able to find ones that are approx. $1000 AUD one way. I'm aware that the time of year I am looking to go is heading into their peak season. However, has anyone in previous years found cheaper one way flights for around this time? Or even have a flight for 2016 around the same time that is less than $1000. I have noticed that there haven't been too many Emirates flights on offer - perhaps they are released later in the year?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this question has been covered many times!

One-way flights are dearer than return flights. Are you coming back? Can you book the return flight now? Skyscanner shows return flights for about $1700, but one-way it's $1000, as you say.

The OP should also consider the fact that a one way ticket may not be accepted; the airline may insist on a RT or a ticket showing onward travel when the time allowed for tourist expires. Just because someone comes from Oz doesn't mean they're not subject to the same restrictions.
The airline websites might have information on the need for the RT booking also...

$1k sounds like a bargain to me, but double check with the Aussie branch to be sure.

Sounds about right to me! I regularly go to Australia to see my kids and they come home - their flights are always proportionately more than ours.... but the dollar has seriously fallen against the pound and that might contribute to more expensive airfares.

Yes, watch getting a single for visa reasons and because they are not half a return fare.

Cheapest flights I can find at the moment are with Malaysian, quite a bit less than Emirates, Qantas and Singapore - have you tried them? Keep an eye on the airline websites as prices fluctuate all the time.

Might be cheaper out of Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. I thing $1600 should be the absolute max return fare you need to pay.

If time is on your side, get a cheap ticket up to Bali, Singapore or Bangkok, then buy a second ticket from Asia to London. Looks like, based on early april dates this could get you there for $900. It does carry risk of random act resulting in lost connection.

A nights accommodation should be factored into the price. Singapore hotels can be expensive, Bangkok & Bali much cheaper.

Jetstar can get you direct to Bali for $180 plus luggage and other fees.

Otherwise set up a fare alert on skyscanner.

April is not peak, you should be getting a good fare for April..
