Can anyone recommend towns, sites, restaurants where we can tie up along the Grand Union Canal, starting in Leichester.

Five of us, in two narrow boats, will be on the canal from May 20-27. We are hiking and boating enthusiasts and hope to do some interesting walking and immersion in the little towns along the way.

You'll find it easier to search if you use the correct spelling of Leicester / Leicestershire (pronounced Lester / Lestershire) - meant to be helpful, not critical - see http://canalrivertrust.org.uk/canals-and-rivers/grand-union-canal-leicester-line Then search for restaurant / pub etc with places names mentioned eg Market Harborough, Welford etc.

Leicester (pronounced Lester) is not the ideal place to start as it is not on the Grand Union main line why Leicester/

Also why 2 boats? - a 60 footer would be more than adequate for your needs and cost a lot less. Try a bit further south than Leicester eg Stoke Bruerne, (maybe even Coventry - plenty of buses from Leicester), which is the heart of the canal system. There is an absolute wealth of literature on the subject - if you are already in the UK, then go to a large newsagent and you'll find several monthly mags on the subject plus advertising.
