I find that the only thing I miss after living almost two years in London are:The Irish people and the best curries int he world, counting India...
Not so British any of that.
London is to me just another big city, lots of possebilities in work, lovelife and entertainment but it also eats you up from the inside, so it takes a as long to recover from the lifestyle as you spent there...

I moan about England a lot. I am English. I hate the depressing 80's shopping centres, the generally culturally numb 'middle-of-the-road' public, who watch TV all evening, shop in Tescos and think a microwaved pub lunch in chain pubs such as 'Harvesters' is a good day out.

However, when you compare us to many countries in the world, certain things are more appreciated.

  1. The BBC. - BBC radio is the best in the world and not screwed by advertising.
  2. The variety of architectural delights and historical towns.
  3. The humour
  4. The music scene. Second to none for variety, including clubbing.
  5. The fact that most places are pretty safe and unlikely to catch deseases.
  6. NHS - people moan about it, but we are one of the few countries in the world where you will not be charged for going to the hospital or doctor (although paying through Tax is another story).
  7. Animal welfare is better than in many countries.
  8. Beaurocracy is bad but nowhere near as bad as countries like Italy or Spain.
  9. The sheer variety of food outlets thanks to our loose immigration laws. Where else can you get Indian, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Viatnemese, Lebanese, Italian, English, French, SPanish, Mexican and err... English food within a mile? Well in most larger towns you can.
