When I ask people that moved to Oz what they miss about the UK (a pretty standard question from me to anyone that left for any country I might add) there are two standards answers:
Beer & access to Europe
So is the best thing about this country:
- to leave it?
- getting too drunk on good ale to forget where you are?
Yep I’m trolling a bit but I’m also serious – let’s make a post about why you love England!
As well as beer it's the pubs! He he but it's true - I love the traditional old pubs in this country!
Properly cooked English food is gorgeous & nothing can beat a hangover like a full English!
I love the history & how it’s all around you. Just driving down the road & as by magic you'll come past some historically facinating point...
I like the politeness & the obsessiveness to form an orderly queue everywhere always makes me smile.
I think the music out of this country is great too! Well not all of it but there are lots of really really good bands over the last few years especially.
That will do for a start!

To be honest Ria, for most antipodeans that IS why they are here.
Maybe not so much the beer for all of us - I quite like the access to european wine as I don't drink beer ;-) - but I don't know many people that just love the UK for what it is. Actually I don't know that many english people who are overwhemingly positive and passionate about the UK either, except for a few exceptions in the wilds of Wales and Scotland.

OOPS apologies, that should be BRITISH people not english of course... Changed my mind about what I was saying half way through...

Yes, but the British are notorius for complaining.

I have no love for England at all. It has its plus points and negative points like most developed countries but nothing i could say yep that's the reason i love it so much.

For me it's London. The most amazing, fascinating, beautiful, cultural, enchanting, exciting city on this planet. No other city in the world compares for me.

Wouldn't say I love the place but I do like the following Briddish things a great deal and miss them when I go elsewhere for too long:
Its proximity to Europe
Dressing up like a Dickensian scallywag and swaggering about London drinking Hendricks gin
The Viz
Absence of too many tropical diseases, violently destructive natural phenomena or man-eating beasties
The Mighty Boosh
Topshop
Cheddar cheese and Earl Grey tea
The multiculturalism of many of our larger cities (especially when it comes to food…)
Clearly displayed prices on most stuff you'd want to buy, and not having to haggle all the time
