Hi, in my quick trip during the first 10 days of September, I'm planning for only 2 days in the Westfjords and then moving on to other locations. Dynjandi is on my list of interests because of a recommendation from a friend. Besides that, Rauðisandur Beach sounds like an attractive place to visit, but it's more out of the way with more driving. Is it worth visiting (for, say, a short hike) or are there better options around Þingeyri, or other suggestions?

Also, we're interested in bird and…

Hi all, I'll be in Iceland, Myvatn this May. I found someone on the samferda site to drive with me up north, but we'll be parting ways at Myvatn on 27th. As I don't drive, I would like to go back to Akureyri to catch the Straeto bus to Reykjavik, can anyone with experience recommend what the odds are of finding drivers that return to Akureyri, or do most continue East (towards Hofn)? Does that make my odds of getting a ride very slim/unrealistic?
Also, in case anyone is going my way, I would be…

Hi there,
I'm planning to head to either Vesturbæjarlaug or Laugardalslaug on my arrival from the airport, and I have a few hours before I can check in to where I am staying. I'll have my bag with me. Anyone know if there are large lockers or other storage opportunities at the pools? Thanks for any help,
Lisa

Hi all, trying to plan a trip in late August/Early September for about 10 - 14 days (preferably early september considering cost of flights from US).

I'm thrown off by the potential September weather... seems unpredictable? Want to do a ton of hiking, possibly camping, rent a car. Want to definitely hit Bergen, fjords, Alesund, Tronheim area... am also thinking about Lofoten but not sure if this is a great time of year for Lofoten or if it will be even feasible with the amount of time I'll be…

Hi there,

Going to Iceland from May 7th-May 16th and planning on traveling the Ring Road by rental car. We are going to book the first night or 2 and last night in Reykjavik ahead of time; however, I was wondering if we could just play the rest of the trip by ear and book accommodations (hotel and/or air bnb) the day of or a day or 2 in advance of being in a certain town? I know this is shoulder season and we would hate to be stranded somewhere with no place to stay but would like to have the…

Hey everyone!
So basically my lifelong dream is to spend a year or 2 backpacking though each and every country in Europe.
This is going to be super budget though, and will happen in quite a few years time (i'm only 15 right now ) and I want to go probably after university.
I've been wanting to go on this trip for over 3 years and one thing I've noticed in my research is how expensive the Nordic countries can be! Do you guys have any suggestions for how I could possibly avoid the huge prices? I'm…

Hey All

I plan to hike following route:
Day 1 Abisko Tourist Station to Abiskojaure hut
Day 2 to Alesjaure hut
Day 3 to Unna Allakas hut
Day 4 to Abiskojaure hut
Day 5 to Abisko Tourist Station

In a couple of weeks but I wonder if the huts are open.

I do have a lot of experience in very harsh conditions, I was planning to camp but just can't find the right info if those huts are open to get a warm cup of coffee and continue on hiking or sleep there if too tired.

that's it for the rest no mare…

We're looking to go to Norway for our honeymoon in October of this year, and we're trying to figure out the best itinerary. I'm open to renting a car as long as that's the best transportation option.

We're looking to get a balance of both culture and nature, and would be flying in and out of Oslo. While we do have some money to spend, we'd also like to keep things on the cheaper side (which I know can be tough in Norway but I hear is doable)

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!
