It’s actually a good idea to come down to Kemi for a day or two. The little town is beautiful with some old and colourful wooden buildings and there are plenty of things to see with inexpensive accommodation possibilities for budget travelers.
Apart from the main attractions known for years (the Icebreaker Sampo and the Snow Hotel Lumilinna, see below, there are now 2 tourist operators, Lapland Safaris (see below) and Sea Lapland organising many trips from Husky tours to Reindeer visits, from…

As there were no other clients around I just set off with Gaisa my sympathetic female guide. Gaisa decided not only to use the green key for more power from the beginning but also did some further enhancement for an even more powerful engine because of the…

Hi everyone!

We're going to be in Iceland for 9 days next week and we booked a car for the entire period. We'll be sure to keep an eye on the road conditions though, and if the weather doesn't allow it, we can change our itinerary or go with guided tours. But in case the weather isn't too bad, we have the following itinerary in mind:

Day 1: Fly to Reykjavik
Day 2: Visit Thingvellir national park, Laugarvatn hotsprings, and Geysir geothermal park
Day 3: Visit Gulfoss and Seljalandfoss falls
Day 4…

I am looking to see if anyone is interested in joining me on a trip up to Lofoten in early to mid-June for 5-8 days for hiking/ whatever else we get into. I went to Norway last October and hit up Bergen, Flam and then drove to Olso before taking a train back to Bergen and now looking to adventure way north.

I am planning on spending 2 nights in Iceland from the U.S.in mid June (arriving at 8:30 AM on Day 1, and the Day 3 departure time to Europe hasn't been set yet). with my family (wife and 8 year old son). Day 1 will probably be spent walking around parts of Reykjavik and also wanted to go out and see some of the sights on Day 2. I know Golden Circle seems to be the most famous/popular, but which trip between Golden Circle and South Coast do people think has the best views?

If we're able to…

Hi,
We are planing on flying to Norway from USA for 7 days on July 20th. I was thinking to first stay and visit Bergen for 3 days then rent a car and drive to see the fjords for the next 4 days. I am open to any suggestions where to go and what fjords to visit along the way and places to stay over night. Also should we skip the car rental and use a public transportation? We like adventure and to be independent. But also we want to experience a beautiful nature.
Thank you very much.

Good Afternoon,

Any suggestions for a town to use as a base for doing day hikes? We will not have a car.

Thank you,
Bob

I'm traveling to Norway in June and I was wondering if anyone was doing a fjord hiking/ camping trip I could tag along on or if someone wanted to plan one with me. If you want to message me I will probably respond a lot quicker on facebook:

Hei,

I am going to travel in Finland for the next couple of months. Hostels, hiking + Camping and more:
I would like some feedback from experience travelers --in Finland; Also, re: shelters/cabins -- as exist in some countries (Norway --DNT)
* Starting in May as the weather conditions may be still be a bit chilly
