Hey guys!
I'm planning on travelling to Icland in the beginning of June for about 2 weeks.
I am experianced backpacker and have done my share of hitch-hiking, camping, couchsurfing etc. all around the world.
Since I plan to travel alone and don't really have budget to rent a car by myself I was wondering if it is possible to travel Iceland by bus or hitchiking? I was planning on camping and hiking.

THX so much for your input!

I've planned out a two week trip around Iceland with my wife for late June and departing very very July. My itinerary is as follows, if anybody has any suggestions please feel free. (We've rented a camper van for the first week driving around the ring road; we're hiking the second week. Bolded indicates we're sleeping in / nearby that town.)

18 June - land early morning and get rental, hike to Glymur, drive to Grundarfjordur (spend night around there)
19 June - drive to Myvatan (stop at Godafoss…

We are travelling to Iceland in mid-June and trying to figure out what’s the best way to get to Laugavegur.
We will be travelling from Hofn and was wondering if there would be a way to get to Laugavegur from Hella. We weren't planning on getting a 4x4 car, and while I see there are some bus tours, the ones that we've seen only give you an hour or two in the area.

Would it be possible to have one day hike or is overnight required?

Hi All,

Can anyone advise whether we could use Euro and USD (instead of Icelandic Krona) to pay in cash (not by credit card) for/at the following anywhere in Iceland:
-hotel bill
-cafes or restaurants
-convenience store/supermarket
-petrol kiosks
- carpark fee
- entrance fee
- car rental fee
Using credit card though is convenient incurs unfavourable exchange rate which we would least consider if given a choice.

Also,
will it better and easier to change ISK in town or in airport?

What economical…

I have a 16 hour layover at Keflavík International Airport. For almost the same amount of bus transportation / round trip into Reykjavik I can rent a car. So basically I pick up car around 2:pm and return it around 6:am the next morning. Any ideas where I can go in that short of time or should I just forget about it & take the bus?

Hello!

A couple of weeks ago we went by ferry to Stockholm, and it was cool!

I had never been to the high seas before and did not know how to lead my body and what to expect. So I was pretty nervous before the trip. And running ahead, I will say that everything went well and the sea was calm, like my body.
The ferry is of course such a thing, say, a party and no more. You can certainly try to find in this all some kind of romance, but I'm almost sure that it's vain and pointless.

Hi travelers,

I'm going for at short 4-day trip to Iceland in mid May where I'll be staying in Reykjavik.
As I do not have too much time on my hands but still want to catch a whale watching boat out of Reykjavik, I was wondering which company does the best tours?
I have a car available, so I could go a bit out of town if the best boat tours depart from other places than Reykjavik.

Hope you can help!

hi

I'm taking the Hurtigruten northbound from Bergen.

one day trip offered is to visit Geiranger fjord . has anyone done this and is it worth it? it's not cheap at about 215 euros. does doing this fjord tour see something special that you would not normally see from the vessel?

I note it means you miss the town of Alesund, is that town worth visiting?

thanks

Hi,

I will be travelling from Oslo to Gjendesheim and back. With this said, I have rented a car and wanted some recommendations on places/things to stop and see on the way and back.

Also, I plan on staying a night on the way back to break up the trip; from Gjendesheim to Oslo. Is there any place in particular that is highly recommended to stay and why?

Thanks!
