Oslo or Bergen

Country forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics / Norway

Hi, we only have 3 days in Norway in 2 weeks time, would it be better to spend them in Oslo or Bergen? Thank you in advance for your advice!

How does what this city and town offer fit your interests?

And which city is nearest to your point of entry into Norway?

Whichever one is the nearest is the one to explore.

Have visited both (Bergen more than Oslo) and both have their charms and places of interest.

2

Can you choose between the two when it comes to your flight?
Bergen has the fjords and the hills surrounding it, but also nasty 2'C in-your-face rain in feb/mar. Nice cafes, restaurants, some interesting museums offers a haven from the elements. Oslo usually has more of a wintry setting at that time (although nasty spells of underchilled rain is known there as well), the forests surrounding the city has a huge network of cross country skiing trails, as with Bergen there are interesting cafes, restaurants and museums, you might also try out a performance at the opera house if that thing catches your fancy. Norway is a high income country, prices reflect this.
