Oslo---Kayak--Sailing

Country forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics / Norway

I want to do a "silent sport" on water while in Oslo. Any recommendations as far as outfitters, sailing charters (small sailboat where one gets to sail)
please
:)
Thanks

I could help you with some advise about kayakking. What's your level of experience? When and for how long are you planning to be on the water? Outer Oslo-fjord is a paradise in good summer weather.

What about the fjords in South Norway in may ? Is it possible ? Do we need a special equipment ? It's just for a few hours ? Is it possible to rent a kayak on the spot at this time of year ?

I guess so, google away! But Southern Norway is not very accurate. Do you mean the fiords on the West Coast or the more protected East Coast? I would recommend the latter for a start. The West coast is much more rugged and land falls abruptly into the sea. Wind gets more unpredictable and there might be difficult to find a landing place in an urgency.

We spend a couple o days in Oslo, then go for a ski tour around Finse, then back to Oslo, we borrow a car from a friend and go towards Bergen and southwards to Stavanger and back to Oslo, so it will be on the way somehere ...

Looks like a good plan. You may find something interesting in this link:
