New point of departure for Vestmannaeyjar ferry

For those of you who are thinking about taking the Herjólfur ferry to Vestmannaeyjar this summer I'd just like to remind you that as of July 21 2010 the ferry will no longer be departing from Þorlákshöfn, but from a new harbour called Landeyjahöfn. This new harbour is much further east along the coastline so the journey will only take about 30 minutes instead of 3 hours previously.

This new route allows to visit island in one day. The "exit" to new harbor is between Hvolsvollur and Seljalandsfoss (and Eyjafjallajokull) towards sea. About an hour drive from Reykjavik.

Must see place - Vestmannaeyjar itself plus possibility to see Iceland as island as well :-)

Correction !! The new harbour is about 140 Km. away from R.vik. a whole two (2) hours drive, non stop.
