Marken Gjestehus in Bergen

Country forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics

Did anyone stay at Marken Gjestehus in Bergen before? It cost approximately $104.79 for 3 nights for 1 bed (room with 4 beds). I want some advice... is this a good price? I'll be there in mid September.

Thanks for any advice.

That's about 200 NOK per night, and if includes bed linens and breakfast, seems good value for Norway. I have stayed twice at Crowded House in Bergen, which is a bit more like a hotel than hostel, and priced accordingly.

I haven't stayed there, but I know where it is, and it's a very nice location.
I stayed at Hostel Montanna when I was there, which was a good deal cheaper, but farther away (requiring a bus ride every day), and I was not impressed with the cleanliness, other hostelers, or atmosphere. (Although the breakfast was good). I think I paid around $25 for a bed. On the other hand, since it's on the mountain, you get a great view. Marken Gjestehus is more central, though. It seems a little expensive to me, but not outrageously so -- esp. if, as noted above, it includes linens and breakfast.
