Lofoten: a special place to sleep?

Country forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics / Norway

Hi.
We are going to Lofoten, Vesterrålen and down the coast from Bodø to Trondheim this summer and are wondering if some of you have stayed in a hostel/hotel/B&B/rorbu that were particularly good? If so, please let us know!

Some people always get mad when I ask this question because it’s kind of unfocused, but still: We’re looking for something unique, cozy, special, nice staff… yes – something different really. It could be a beautiful camp ground or an expensive place that serves homemade breakfast by the sea:)

To give you a clue: We just got back from Berlin and stayed here: http://www.michelbergerhotel.com/, and this is another place we like further south in Norway: http://www.eplet.net/

Regards
Jan Henrik

When we were on Lofoten about four years ago, we came to a office in Å (http://goo.gl/YHOA) and asked for a rorbuer. It is typical simple fishermen cottage made from red boards, that can be seen anywhere on Lofoten. We were on rorbuer Odden in a village few kilometers from Å to the east and it was fantastic; we extended our stay then.

I highly recommend to book rorbuer on Lofoten. We were there after main season, so you should make a reservation rather if you want go there in peak months.
