Living and Working in IcelandCountry forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics / Iceland
Hiya, Last year I visited Iceland and absolutely loved it. Despite the cold weather I have had serious thoughts about going out there to live in Reykjavik. I currently work within the arts/music industry but in a administrational capacity and I have a UK passport. I understand to find a job like what I have already is probably quite slim (I don't speak Icelandic - although I intend to learn it). Can anyone recommend some good job sites etc for Iceland? Or have any advice on living out there as an expat? This is all in the early stages but am I willing to work in a cafe just to get myself sorted out there. Hope to hear from someone soon.... x

Hello, yup I saw that ad and wasn't too sure since its very temp. I'd prefer to be in Reykjavik too as I don't drive ...I know I need to learn!! Thanks for the tip though x | 2
As you surely realise, Iceland has been one of the worst hit countries by the recent economic distress. Unemployment shot up to 8% in 2009 having been 1-2% in the preceding years. And wages have been substantially eroded by high inflation. In times of economic distress, arts/music are seen as optional activities and hit more heavily than sectors seen as essential. | 3
