Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon in one day

Country forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics / Iceland

I was wondering if anyone has done the Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon in one day. The majority of my trip is going to be taken up with the Laugavegurinn Trek, but I still wanted to do both of these activities as well, and was wondering if there is enough time to see everything. Personally a couple of hours at the blue lagoon is all I want.

As yet, I haven't decided whether to rent a car or take a tour. The latter I know limits me.

Easy, it will be a long day though, but with a relaxing end at the BL.

When that is

It is quite common to go to the Blue Lagoon on the way to the airport. You'd have to do the half-day golden circle to fit in the Blue Lagoon (they're in opposite directions)

You leave R.vik 09:00, you arrive back to R.vik around 16:00 - 17:00 (normal tour). Or, instead you arrive Blue Lagoon 30 Min later, have a soak for 1 - 2 hours, dinner at the Lava restaurant, and you´re back to R.vik around 21:00 - 22:00.
A very good, but a little long day.
Easy !!
You can get a private guided tour like this for about $500.

Thanks for all the replies. I arrive in Iceland in July. Unfortunately my return flight leaves at 7:00 a.m so no chance of fitting the Blue Lagoon in on the way to the airport. Given the length of combing the two, I think I will have to settle for the half day Golden Circle tour, because I also need time in Reykjavik to get supplies for my trek. My plan after the trek was to hire a car and drive down to Jokulsarlon on an overnight trip, taking in as much as possible on the way. Retruning to Reykjavik the next day. If I am back early enough, maybe then I could fit in the Blue Lagoon.

Hi Borkur,

I hope you mean for 50 dollar? But for a public tour by buss instead of private... (I'll pay in euros anyway, too bad)

I was wondering the same about the Golden Circle tour.
My boyfriend and I would like to do this by car in two days. (more freedom, more space, more time...)

I was thinking about next trip (starting from Reykjavik):

Pass by Nesjavellir to go to Thinvellir N.P. and Thingvellirvatn.
Take road 37 to Laugarvatn-shellir and maybe drive to Brúarfoss (and walk the last 3 km),
Drive to Geysir, Strokkur and Gulfoss.
Maybe pass by Brúarhlöd (I should look for this special sign): I don't know about that road conditions?
Go back on road 35 to pass Kerid and drive to Hveragerodi (overnight there or maybe earlier?)
Visit Raufarhólshellir, a part of Reykjanes (Krýsuvik/urberg)
and back to Reykjavik! (the lagoon would be just before we go to the airport, if we have money left :-) ).

I have 2 big questions about my "planned" tour:
Is this trip with all the stops possible in two days?
Is it possible with a normal car (and not a 4 weel driving car)?

Thaks a lot!
