Here are some cycling in Sweden questions:

Are campgrounds easy to find in Stockholm? How about Gotland?

How hilly/flat are is Gotland the Stockholm?

Is it easy to get bikes from Stockholm Airport to Stockhom and then onto Goland? How much is the ferry to Gotland?

Are roadbikes sufficient in Gotland, or do you need something with fatter tires? I'm hoping to bring my road bikes (for my wife and I) and pull my kid in Chariot child carrier.

Thanks, Keir

There are a few campgrounds near Stockholm, plenty on Gotland, check www.camping.se

Not too hilly, the highest point in Stockholm County being about 100 meters (300 feet) and about 85 m in Gotland. In some places there are steeper uphill/downhill streets or roads but in general there's not too much of that.

The Arlanda Airport is 40 km north of Stockholm and the Nynäshamn ferry terminal is 50 km south. The easiest way may be cycling to Märsta commuter train station about 5 km from the airport (try www.eniro.se for maps, there's a minor road between the airport and Märsta, as opposed to the nearby freeway), bring the bikes on the commuter train (not rush hours), and take another commuter train from Stockholm Central Station to Nynäshamn. There are also plenty of minor roads of you wish to bicycle. Try the bookshop opposite the Stockholm station, or "Kartbutiken" map shop on Kungsgatan st north of the station for the bicycle road atlas and other maps.

Most roads on Gotland are asphalt roads, some are gravel or dirt, as opposed to the mainland the gravel tends to be consisting more of limestone and/or a bit more sandy in character.

cheers
