Balestrand to Geiranger?

Hello, we are hoping to travel via public transport this May from Balestrand to Geiranger. We really want to see both places. Is this possible? I went to the fjord1 website and tried to use their trip planner function but it won't let me go past April to select travel dates. Thank you so much for your help in advance!

This should be doable, but would involve two or three changes (Sogndal and Nordfjordeid). You could consider renting a car if costs are not an issue.

If it's possible in April it should also be possible in May, which sees a significantly higher number of visitors to the region: I'll be amazed if this is not the case.

From May 1st you have two options

1. From Balestrand scenic route: Fjærland ferry to Fjærland, bus from Fjærland roadcross to Hellesylt, Geiranger ferry from Hellesylt

2. Local bus from Balestrand to Førde, Bus to Hellesylt, ferry to Geiranger

Alt. 1 will let you have fewer hours on the bus (3) than Alt. 2 (6), but might take longer in total. For alt. 1, suggest spending the night somewhere along route (Fjærland or Stryn)
