Akureyri accommodation

Hi, another question re our trip in 2015. We read somewhere that on Friday & Saturday nights the revheads cruise the streets in Akureyri. The don't drive fast but they make a LOT of noise until very late. Apparently they particularly like to cruise along Strandgata, Glerargata and Skipagata.

We liked the look of an apartment on one of these streets but were worried about the noise. Does anyone know whether this information is true, up to date or really a problem?

We'll be there over the weekend and whilst I like people to enjoy themselves I'd also appreciate a bit of sleep.
