16 days in Iceland. plan seperate or book all in trip??Country forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics / Iceland
HI, I hope to visit Iceland Aug 2016 for the first time solo trip, hoping for 16 nights. I wounder which is better to plan everything solo (car hire/accomadation/etc) or go with a company that will arrange everything for me. what would be cheaper. any recommendations fon a car hire company. would think a camper van hire would be too expensive. I had a budget camper van for hire in new zealand and it worked great for me. I found this web site, looks good in what they arrange. pick up from airport, car hire unlimited miles, gps, budget accomadation, breakfast included. all included. http://iceland.nordicvisitor.com/. Any help with this would be most grateful. last question I see some cars are not allowed on F roads?? what are these. Many thanks in advance, jer
Packages are usually rather more expensive than DIY. There are plenty of previous threads recommending car hire companies.
Mountain roads. The roads marked in red on this map. The restriction is from the car hirer who is concerned you might wreck their vehicle. In fact the correspondence between "F-classified road" and "roads your hirer will not permit you to drive in a 2wd" is not exact, but they will usually make clear to you exactly which roads they permit you to drive. And note that just because you hire a 4wd does not mean that the hirer will permit you to drive on all mountain roads with that car. | 1
Hi! For Car Rental I can thoroughly recommend Reykjavík Cars (www.reykjavikcars.com). All arrangements superb and very good value for money. I will definitely use them again. If you prefer a camper van, you may check these awesome guys Campervan Iceland (www.campervaniceland.com). | 2
