Hi guys,

Ive recently decided to leave my job hence am thinking of a Nordic trip in May. It’s very short notice but I want to make the most of the free time I have.

Scandinavia has always been an area I want to travel to especially the lofoten islands and Faroe Islands. But I don’t want to be limited to those places.

Essentially, I’m looking for non-touristy places and want to live like a local. Definitely looking at places where life is slower and to enjoy the scenery around me.

I’m limiting to about 15 days for this trip but open to extending it if there are definitely places to discover.

Sorry this is quite open ended because I’ve only decided to do this now and with little time left.

Thanks in advance!

When in Lofoten, hire a cabin at a campsite (that's often what us locals do when out touristing in our own country). Selfcater, but set aside a few of the weeks meals for a restaurant the locals recommend for celebrations. If you're not very familiar with handling a small boat in rough seas, pay to get on a guided tour instead of going off in your own eggshell to fish.

Eat strawberries. Watch sunset. Talk, kiss and dance. And always remember to bring dry socks.
