10 days in Finland, what shouldn't we miss?

Country forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics

My boyfriend and I are travelling to Finland the first 2 weeks of September. It looks cheapest and easiest to fly into Helsinki (from London) although let me know if you think there is a better airport.

Things we would like to see:

We would like to go on a bear watching tour - any recommendations on best one or place to go? I'm guessing we would need to be much further north than Helsinki for this - are we best flying or would hiring a car and driving up the country with a few stops on the way be an easy option?

I know it maybe a little early in the year but obviously we would love to be able to see the northern lights. Is there somewhere particularly good to go for this or would our chances be pretty much the same throughout the country?

It looks like it might stretch our budget a little but we would also like to stay in an ice hotel or 'igloo'. Any recommendations on any of these, I've noticed a few don't open until start of October, will we have snow start of September?

Any help with the above, a recommended itinerary or any other information you could give us would be amazing!
Thank you!
