I'll be visiting Kiruna in Sweden in January celebrating Australia day in the snow. My first outing that far north and I was wondering if anyone has visited this part of Sweden in late January before? If so any tips on clothing would be much appreciated. Also will there be any daylight during that time?

This summer I'm planning to go to the northern entrance of Abisko and make my way down to kebnekaise and ascend it. After I wish to continue to Sarek which suppose to be a bit rugged. I'm have experience in walking jungles, climbing mountains and camping in other continents but I am a bit sensitive to very cold climate.
But since it suppose to be the wildest area in Sweden i really want to make it to the heart of sarek. So my questions are:

I will be travelling to Stockholm in February, as part of my itinerary I am intending to meet up with a friend of mine who lives in Copenhagen. My friend has initially suggested meeting up in Gothenburg, but I'm thinking that's a bit of a journey for a day trip.
I would be grateful for any suggestions for alternative venues between Stockholm and Copenhagen where the journey isn't as long and there is enough to do for a day?

I have decided to spend a weekend somewhere ''fantastic'' instead of sitting and itching on the sofa. I will be staying in Stockholm for 4 days n February and I was wondering where to stay. The youth hostel I really like is this one and it is located on "södermalm". Is this a good area in Stockholm? Are there a lot of museums there or are the museums tourists go to located somewhere else? If so, is it hard to get there from the hostel?

I live in Gothenburg,Sweden.Actually im planning to visit an old friend of mine who lives in Fieldkirchen(a small village close to Salzburg)on Jan.1st and planning to stay there up to Jan.8th,when i think ill get back to Gothenburg,Sweden.
