We will be driving from Gothenburg to Stockholm next week with our 18 month old daughter. It's too long a trip for her to do all in one go so we are planning to stop somewhere, roughly halfway, overnight. Does anybody have any suggestions for nice/ child friendly places to stay not too far from the motorway (E4). We won't really be doing any sightseeing around the area as we have family commitments at either end so really just looking for a comfortable bed for the night.

Don't understand why 5 hour drive is a problem with 18 month child. Stop at some rest areas on roadside should be enough. Or go of at Gränna Gränna town is a nice stop. Easiest way to Stockholm from Gothenburg is passing Jönkköping and follow Vättern on the right side. Don't take E20 on the west side. It will take longer time.
