Hi!

I'll (female traveller, 26) be in Stockholm for 2 week nights at the end of november and I am looking for a nice hostel (dorm room) close to the center, safe for return at night and most of all clean. Looking to spend about 260 to 320 SEK per night.

I was looking at some online and was wondering if you have any recommendation?

STF Stockholm - Fridhemsplan
CityBackPackers
STF Vandrarhem af Chapman & Skeppsholmen
Archipelago Hostel Old Town

Many thanks

CityBackPackers is five minutes walk from the train station , the most central location . Clean but somewhat cramped.

af Chapman & Skeppsholmen are heavily booked , close to the water obviously . Never stayed on the boat. Museum of Modern Art & Photography nearby , a few cafeterias etc.

Less central , hardly an issue with the subway , are Långholmen and Zinkensdamm. Långholmen was a prison ( I have a workmate who served some time there as a conscientous objector ) built in the 19th century , a lot of the dorms are two bed cells. Also the site for Swedens last capital punishment in 1910. Picknick spot today.

Zinkensdamm is a personal favorite landing back in Sweden after travel , situated at the end of a park, with adjoining pub.

If you can, take the boat - it's a fun experience and it was recently renovated. I also agree with #1 about Zinkensdamm, it is not only a decent place to stay, it also sits in a pretty nice and not overly touristy area.

Af Chapman and Skeppsholmen are great places, but not THAT central as it requires a bit of walking, if it's a main concern for OP...

I would heartily recommend STF Fridhemsplan. I was 26 and travelling solo when I stayed there a couple of years ago - I think I stayed in a room with 3 beds and it was very nice and clean, and the T-bana (metro) is a short walk away, only a few stops from central Stockholm.

Thanks
