We are travelling to norway for the month of september and will be arriving at oslo and staying at a hotel in the city.
We are 5 adults and with the planned stay will have a lot of luggage with us and we are on a tight budget that we have to spread over the 5 weeks.
could anyone suggest the cheapest/best way to transfer into the city?
Have got taxi quotes of 940 - 1450 nok and this is too much.
If we take the train/bus in how easy is it to transfer at oslo s to the metro with luggage?
We are going on a short break to Bergen (3 nights) at the end of October. The reason for going late was the chance of seeing the northern lights but have realised it is out of season for boat trips to the fjords. The white lady does not run trips out of season. I saw another post with a similar theme and checked out the advice in the reply but have only one day in which to see some fjords.
We want only a day trip to see some fjords as want to spend the other half day in Bergen.
Does anyone know…
Ok so me and my wife were thinking of visitng Norway for two weeks in Winter. It's a late honeymoon (got married 3 months ago) Wife is Colombian never really been anywhere properly cold and wintery so she is really keen; Northern Lights and all that. I have seen a few companies that do tours , like 2 weeks including 3 days on a boat, a northern lights tour and Tromso and other places by train. They arent cheap (I know that Norway isnt cheap) but I was wondering if just flying to Tromso for two…
Hi all,
Værøy is the beautiful, second to last Lofotes island.
You can get there on a ferry from Meskenes and proceed
to Bodø or viceversa.
Make sure you get a bike right next to the Coop and make
your way to the western part of the island.
There is chocolate factory in the discontinued airport buildings.
There are 2(!) supermarkets on this 800 souls rock.
Hiking is easy and spectacular but the map from the tourist office
needs a review. Some paths do not exist and you want to stay on one.
And here it…
Hi,
we are two friends travelling from Geiranger to Oslo in the night of 25th of August.
I got the following info from Geiranger tourist information:
==================
There is a daily bus from Geiranger to Oslo at 1225 and 1810 but it only runs until August 17th. If you are travelling after that time, you will have to take a taxi from Geiranger to Langvatn (300-400NOK) and then a bus from Langvatn to Oslo. The night bus from Langvatn to Oslo departs at 0005 and arrives in Oslo at 0620.
You…
Hi everyone.
I am travelling from Bergen to Gudvangen later this month and instead of taking the bus I thought it would be much nicer to catch the ferry. Now, on the website of the operator, it says that the ferry is is going to Flam and is stopping somewhere in the middle of the fjord for passengers to change to the connecting ferry to Gudvangen. Does anybody know how that works, and also how it will be possible to buy tickets? It doesn't seem to be possible to book this connection online…
Hi,
I am looking at doing a weekend trip to Bergen at the end of October, but would love to see some of the Beautiful scenery Norway has to offer.
Is there any day trips worth doing out of Bergen?
Thanks,
Jenny
I just returned from Norway with a Telenor pre-paid micro-SIM card for Iphone and Ipad (we used it in our Ipad and it works great). It has some minutes left, and also I had bought, in advance, a recharge for 150 kroner additional that we didn't use. If anybody is going and interested in a great deal, I'm sure we can come to terms.
Hi,
In two week time we plan a week's tour in Norway. We're overwhelmed by the prices and look for ways to save spendings.
We learnt about the fjord-Pass, but looks like it is helpful mostly with finding accommodations, primarily hotels.
We learnt about the international Yout Hostels membership cards and their value for staying in hostels.
Are there any other valuable discount sorces?
Is there' for example a way to earn a discount for the tandem Paragliding in Voss? For other tourist attractions?
I live in the Washington DC area. There are certain things that tourists do that drive us locals nuts, such as standing on the left side of Metro escalators. I will be visiting Norway next month. Are there similar practices that would irritate my hosts? What should I do or avoid doing?
