Hi everyone,

I and my girlfriend plan to go somewhere in Europe during mid Dec 2011 to mid January 2012. We currently stayed at London. Both of us are students. We have been thinking about Norway since this summer but couldn't go for some other reason. So is Norway in December - January still worth traveling to? What things to do in this season? Is it dark whole day in Norway during this time (which might be a big problem)? And will those place of interests and hostels/YHA still be open at that…

if you are planning a trip to Norway, Id really suggest you head North... like, really North.

Tromso is a great city, really great fun - nice town with nice bars, nice people and nice views. I wouldn't bother with the Arctic Cathedral if I was you, but maybe that's just me...

Hi everyone,

I'm considering to backpack in Norway after I'm graduated.
I was thinking about going 2 months or something.
But I'm not sure Norway is a good backpack-country because everyone is saying the food and transport are pretty expensive.
I'm planning to enjoy everything in Norway(hiking, Oslo, visit smaller cities, go to Svalbard etc.)
Has anyone got an idea? I'm able to spend about 20 euros=154 Norwegian kroner a day.

Hello, I will be in Oslo around end of October/beginning of November and I'm looking to stay in a hostel/budget hotel that has some personality to it - is there anything like an arty or funky modern cheap accommodation? My hope is to find something a bit more interesting than the run of the mill backpacker or party hostel. Anything like this exist in Oslo? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi all!

My wife and I are considering bringing our then-6 months old son to Tromso this December for 4 days. We plan to take his stroller with us. Will it suffice for the buses? Or perhaps the infant seats are built-in (so to speak) and readily available? I guess both Q will get "yes" as answers, but will be glad if anyone can confirm. Better safe than sorry. We intend to take public buses while around, with the airport-town connection being the crucial one for us.

We are 2 couples who will be travelling to Norway in March, and will be staying one night in Tromso. I was wondering if there were any b&b's or guesthouses in the city? All we can find are hotels, and we are trying to find something a bit more affordable. (maybe under 100$ a night for a double room).

Hello, Anyone recently gone or going to Tromoso in Norway to do Dog sleading and know of a cheap overnight husky sleading and camping trip you can do? All the ones i am finding are like £500. I am looking for something more along the lines of £200 if possible. Any one know where i can find something more in my price range? I am going in December so it will be pretty dark then so hopeing to do one that starts in the morning and ends the next day.

Also, just wondering exactly how dark does it get…
