Hello out there. I've planned a 3 week trip to norway in july and i've pretty much worked out the itinerary and activities except for in finnmarken. The goal is to go to the north cape so i have to go through it but haven't really been able to find anything interesting. I have 2-3 days up there after seeing going to the cape. As far as i've read a lot of the towns are empty in the summer bacause the sami migrate.
I love the nature so if anyone knows any good hikes or nature experiences that…
Hi,
I'm planning a trip to Lofoten this summer and am trying to work out which route is best to take. I have ten days to use from Bodø to Lofoten and back to Bodø.
Is it best to:
a) hire a car in Bodø and drive to Svolvær via Narvik using two days on the way, then making my way to Å and catching the ferry back to Bodø via Værøy (and Røst).
b) catch a ferry from Bodø to Svolvær then hire a car in Svolvær and spend the ten days within the Lofoten region returning to Bodø by ferry from Å.
Any…
Hi
I was just wondering if there's much point going to Svalbard if I can't really do any of the expensive (and mind-blowing, I'm sure) tours and such.
Are there more modest activities or is that just wasting a trip to Svalbard?
Will I be missing out on "the real Svalbard" if I stick to some hikes and things around Longyearbyen?
Is there anyting to do in Longyearbyen itself?
I'll be going in late June, before I head down to Tromso for the marathon.
Many thanks
I'm in the beginning stages of our round trip Hurtigruten cruise Dec 27th (already have reservations on the Midnatsol). We will be traveling in and out of Norway from Oslo. In checking the train schedule, it looks like there is an 8:11 train from Oslo arriving in Bergen at 14:52. If we take the train, we'd arrive in Bergen on the 26th, spend the night, do some sightseeing in Bergen, and then board the Midnatsol on the 27th.
Or, we can fly to Bergen. I checked SAS and it looks like the earliest…
Hi
Im going to Tromso for 5 days on 16th Feb to try to see the northern lights. The cheapest tours that i've found for dog sledding are about £150, does anyone know if its possible to get them cheaper once you're there? or if there are discounts available on the day etc or if i just have to bite the bullet and pay £150 for 1 hour of sledding!!
same question for the northern lights tours.... also i know there is a lot of lights activity at the moment - will we be able to see a good display…
Hi, does any of you know the summer schedule of the ferry from Moskenes to Bodo and back? (in particular for Sundays).THANK YOU!
Hi -
I am planning on visiting Norway and the Lofoten Islands for 1 week at the end of May 2012. I'd like to bike the Lofoten Islands, ideally renting a bicycle in Bodo, taking a boat to Moskenes and returning to Bodo via Svolvar. I'm having trouble finding information about bike rental options though and was wondering if anyone had any information. Are their shops that will rent cargo bikes for multiple days? Is it easier to rent a bike once on the islands? I'd prefer not to backtrack and try…
Hey all,
I am currently looking into finding work in either Iceland or Norway and am considering fish processing factory work as this seems to be a healthy industry in both countries. I would consider other industries of course. As Norway has the bigger economy of the two I'm looking into going there also, with the intention to work for 6 months. I am hard-working and pick up languages quite easily (one of the few skills I actually have :)) and so I'm not afraid of that challenge as such.
I…
Hey
I'd like to take a very short trip to Norway for skiing, flying into Moss on a Sat morning + flying out Sun evening and wanted to know where is good to go close for skiing (alpine). I've been to Tryvann on a day trip which was great for an afternoon but I'd love to find somewhere with a few more pistes that I could maybe get an afternoon and then all day skiing so maybe about two hours from airport? looking at Norefjell but think it might be a bit too far, can anyone advise? Preferably I'd…
Hi! I am interested in an intensive summer Norwegian course; the University of Oslo's International Summer School seems to be the most popular and, even at $1255 (U.S.) for 6-wks, one of the cheapest. Any recommendations of more thrifty, but still high quality, alternatives?
Also, most of the schools have various levels (like A1, A2); I will have completed the 30-lesson Pimsleur Norwegian course by the time I go, but probably not much more than that. Any ideas whether that still puts me at…
