Hello,

I am from London, heading to Bergen for the first time, arriving on 15th November and planning to stay for a few weeks, maybe longer if I am able to find a job.

I would appreciate some information on the following:

  • Good restaurants (value for money)
  • Music / Art events - around Nov/Dec
  • The best sights / trips (value for money)
  • Job / volunteering opportunities
  • Scenic travel by train to Oslo - Advice

Best Regards
Michelle

Hello everyone!

I'm going solo to Norway, for either 4 - 5 days. I am kind of lost with all the possibilities. I read the guide, but there are so many things!!!
I mean, I am planning to stay one night in Oslo, and then take the train to Bergen. then, should I take the train Myrdal Flam, and Andalsnes? Is it possible to do it in 5 days? And on thoso places what are the best options in December? Skiing?
See, guys, this is so diferent cause I live in Brazil, so you can imagine the diference between…

I can't drive so do you think camping is out for me (looking to fly from London to Oslo, train from Oslo to Bergen, boat from Bergen to Tromso and then fly back to London)? i.e. sites are far out of town?

I've been reading the boards and doing research about hostels and campsite and just trying to figure out the cheapest accommodation that suits me. I'm quite happy to rough it!

Hi everyone!
I thought id add another unanswered question of mine onto the Thorn Tree! I have around 10 days in Scandinavia, hopefully ending up in Tallin, between around now and the 27th of October and on the quest for snow, preferably snow fall, and amazing scenery, even northern lights if that is possible. I have a rail pass and will happily and eagerly travel all across the region! Its just im not sure, at this time of the year, where snow is falling!
Thanks again

I am coming to Norway the end of November with my mom and sister. My Mom really really wants to go to Vik. I can't seem to find any info on the city.

Are there hotels?

Population?

Restaurants?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!

I'll be in Bergen from December the 23rd to December the 27th, I already have my ticket to Flam Train. My concern is where to eat or celebrate on Xmas Eve, and what else can I do besides of walking in the city, of course, bundle up!
Thanks in advance!

Hi

I am looking at going to Norway for a weekend. I see their are cheap flights to Oslo all the time from London, but I am unsure of what there is to do in Oslo? I'm not really into walking around too many museums as I'd rather get out and see the scenery and nature. I am travelling on my own and I don't drive so am I limited to what I can do here or is there somewhere better I can fly to?

I am just looking to get away at the end of October/November time somewhere with good scenery. I don't…

Hi all,

Myself and two friends are planning a little getaway November 1st - 4th to Oslo with the intention of hiking some trails but are struggling to figure out a good plan of action.

We're flying into Rygge early on the Thursday and are unsure whether to get a hotel in Oslo itself or stay in and around Moss / Rygge? We're after a hotel/s but can't stretch to hiring a car so will be using public transport.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good day hiking areas / routes?

Thanks…

Hi,

I am considering booking a trip to Norway for four days. The main aim of the trip is to see the Northern Lights. I would be flying into Oslo and as I said I only have four days so I am just wondering what the best way of getting to see them is? I am aware the further north the better but Norwegian flights seem dear, and had considered training it but I am unsure to where.

Any and all ideas are welcome

Cheers
